At long last, 52 solar panels have been installed at UCC and were connected to NWE last week. The installation was successfully inspected earlier this week and will be activated in the near future. When the project is on the air it should offset 95% of our electrical usage.
The UCC Green Team wants to thank everyone for their hard work, support, and generosity that it took to get this project completed. Dedication of the system will take place soon, and we will be making electricity from the Sun.
Before the solar panels could be installed, UCC needed to replace the roof in the education wing. At that time, the insulation of that roof was dramatically increased, which should result in yet more energy savings. This project was done by the congregation acting through our Cabinet and Building Committee.
Both of these projects are examples of the many ways that our congregation is living up to our Creation Justice Covenant.
