Finding Our Way with Honesty,
Humility, Curiosity and Compassion

For many Christians, Lent is our annual time to remember the wilderness journey of the Israelites as they broke free from both the slavery and the empire thinking of Egypt. Their 40 years of being in the wilderness was a time to wrestle with and recalibrate their core values as well as their relationships to God and to each other.
This year we are invited to that same internal work with our series on Loving Creation. This series will help remind us of the scourge of empire thinking and practices and then help us calibrate our own values and relationships in our lives. Each week we will have a grounding story and a series of questions to help guide our conversations and process along the way. We’ll be invited to engage the season, thoughtfully and with passion, in quiet, by learning, by sharing and by serving.
Lenten Wednesdays
Over the course of Lent, we will gather Wednesday evenings at 5:30 for time together. Some weeks we will share a simple dinner followed by Taizé services. Other weeks we will gather and move outside our doors to actively serve in our community.
March 12, 19, April 2 | Lenten meal and Taizé worship |
March 26, April 9 | Service in the community |
Lenten Sundays – March 9, 16, 23, 30, April 6
Each Sunday after service, we will explore the ways we find our way with honesty, humility, curiosity and compassion. We will gather after service to share our reflections on the message and our own experiences. We will also offer quiet, spiritual practices to more deeply connect with this Lenten journey. Conversely, we will invite active hands-on participation in activities or projects. Additionally, we will also welcome Emmaus Campus Ministry to share their border experience and Thompson Smith as he speaks on his ongoing ethnogeography work.
